First baby boy born in Meridian of 2021

Micah Tucker was the first baby born in Meridian today at Rush Health Systems, weighing at 7 pounds and 3 ounces.

“We know he’s special and this is a special occasion for him,” said Jessica Tucker, Micah’s mother.

Micah was delivered by Dr. Virginia Carney Nelson at 1:24 p.m. Friday. Micah is the first born in Meridian of 2021. Baby Micah was also brought into this world during a pandemic.

“It’s really nerve-racking--the worry and of course us not being able to have our family here, but the people here really really made us feel comfortable and they’re wonderful,” said Michael Tucker, Micah’s father.

The Tuckers say they do eventually plan on having another bundle of joy.
