Meridian, MS - The 2023-2024 school year has officially started for Lauderdale County School District, and Northeast Middle School is overjoyed with enthusiasm. “Today is A through K and, tomorrow is L through Z, and Monday we will have all of our students on campus. We’re excited about this year, excited about some new changes, we’re excited about everything that’s going to happen at Northeast Middle School.” says Principal Shacora Moore.
Speaking of changes, Shacora Moore is the new principal of Northeast Middle School, and feels students will benefit from the new Block schedule system. “This is our students first time on the block schedule which will allow them to have more instructional time, less transitions, which will hopefully cut back on any disruptions.”
So, how were students welcomed back on their first day? “We have this beautiful welcome display, that we were donated; one of our community members came and decorated for us. We also started our homerooms today which allowed the student to meet their teachers, we allowed our fifth-grade parents to escort their students into the school building, they sat in the gym, we introduced ourselves, and then they were allowed to take their students to the classroom.”
Northeast Middle School welcomes back all its students on the first day of school, where they say, “It’s a Great Day to be a Trojan.”
