Meridian, MS - Forever Chemicals found in water have been linked to many diseases, birth defects, and a decrease in immunity, leaving residents like Mary Brooks very concerned about their water. “I just hope God fixes this problem, whatever problem they’re having over there, and to get it done.”
Mary said although she uses tap water, she’s going to be extra cautious if she begins to feel ill. “I would go to the emergency room to make sure, get some water, take it with me, and ask them to test the water also.”
Experts say PFAS of “Forever Chemicals” can be found at oil refineries, water treatment plants, and industrial sites, from there they migrate into streams, landfills, or other places before winding up in the soil and drinking water.
Meridian Residents Alex Scott, and Howard Vanwieren, feel something needs to be done. “Quit dumping stuff in water, lakes, creeks, stuff like that." says Alex Scott. “Make sure nobody is polluting somewhere, it comes from the industry, whichever one it is.” says Howard Vanwieren
As a method to remove forever chemicals, Consumer Reports have identified four water filters, that can help consumers filter the chemicals out such as the Brondell Coral UC300 Three Stage, Aquasana AQ-5200, ZeroWater Ready-Pour, and the ClearlyFiltered.
