The effect of rising gas prices is being felt by people across the nation. In Mississippi, prices are now up to $4. Twin States News spoke with some delivery businesses who say it is becoming an issue.

Owner Joe Reeves of Roger’s Florist has had to increase his delivery prices since the cost of gas has continued to go up.
“We’ve had to go up on our delivery charges. We went up one time, and it looks like if it keeps going, we are probably going to have to raise prices again”, said Reeves. “We’ve gone from the low $2 to almost $4.

According to Triple (AAA) prices in Mississippi are averaging at $4.13. One week ago, it was $3.50.
Imperial Cleaners and Laundry say prices are affecting the process of their business.
“I don’t see much traffic. People are driving less. Plus, we use petroleum-based products for dry cleaning, it has skyrocketed”, said owner Omar Bhattr. “It is almost not available so that affects our dry-cleaning part.”

Roger’s Florist is hoping to have multiple orders at a time, to cut back on the traffic of going back and forth to the to shop.
“I just finished talking with a customer and I have about an hour to get one piece to a funeral home. I’m not making money off of gas; I’m just trying to recover my expenses.”
