Meridian, MS - The Air National Guard in Meridian broke ground on three related projects: one of those projects being a improved simulator training facility. According to Governor Reeves, the simulator training center will have quite the impact on East Central Mississippi. “That means tourism dollars for East Central Mississippi, because all of those pilots have to come here, they’re going to be in the community, their families are probably going to be coming here, others, will come here, they’ll stay in hotels, they’ll spend money in the community, in our restaurants, etc. so it’s a huge economic boom.”

The other projects consisted of a new fire station, and renovations to the Guards existing fire station. “It makes our people in uniform safer, and that’s something that we ought to fight for every single day, and I know here in east central Mississippi that something that we do fight for every day, and as long as I’m governor we’re going to continue to fight for it.”

The Governor also emphasized today was the result of hard work between the State, Federal, and Local government. “We’re going to continue work together to make this the best place in America for our Nation's Military, to invest their capital, and invest their assets, and certainly the simulator, the fire station, the other projects here at key field are critical to that.”

Governor Reeves says the groundbreaking of these projects will not only benefit the military service members, but also the economy as well.
