Governor Tate Reeves has extended The Safe Return Order by another 2 weeks, as the state continues its fight against COVID-19, officials still remain concerned about the possibility of a healthcare crisis.
The Safe Return Order was scheduled to expire on Monday, August 3, but will now expire on Monday, August 17 at 8 am.

The Safe Return Order initially issued on Wednesday, June 27, replaced the safer at home order, allowing the state of Mississippi to enter the final stage of safely reopening.
Now extended, businesses are still required to follow guidelines outlined by the order, and individuals are still expected to follow guidelines regarding social distancing when indoors and outdoors to mitigate the spread of COVID-19. During a press conference on Thursday, July 30, Governor Reeves encouraged Mississippians to take the proper precautions.
“ We strongly encourage every Mississippian to wear a mask whenever you go out in public, we tell you that it is the best if you wear a mask and maintain social distancing at least six feet away from those that you are around, we can make difference by doing these little things, so we don’t have to shut down parts of our economy again,” Governor Tate Reeves.
He also stated that it would reduce the chance of the state’s healthcare system from becoming overwhelmed.
“We are throwing everything we can at the hospital crisis in our state and we are going to continue working to ensure the integrity of our healthcare system, I want to underscore this one more time – even if you don’t fear coronavirus, the overtaking of our healthcare systems will affect everybody, if you get in a car wreck, you don’t want to be treated in a tent, like we saw in other parts of the works, and In fact like we saw In other parts of the country, you want to get the best possible care,” said Gov. Reeves.
The Mississippi State Department of Health has the social distancing guidelines set by The Safe Return Order listed on its website under “prevention in the community”
