Governor Tate Reeves announced on Friday the new Back to Business Mississippi website to help small businesses recover from COVID-19.

The website was established a little over a week ago by Governor Reeves. He and the Mississippi Development Authority are working together to distribute funds for operating expenses and salaries.

“Small businesses with less than 50 employees can get up to $25,000 to help all set the cost to their business caused by this pandemic,” says Governor Reeves. “It has frequently asked questions and information that you might need to ensure that when there’s an application to apply that you’re prepared to do so immediately."

Until the MDA releases the applications, eligibility requirements and necessary paperwork can be accessed on the website, backtobusinessms.org.

Local business owner Charles Frazier says his business employs about fifty people and does plan to apply for the grant.

“He recognized the small businesses, kind of the life line of our economy and by providing this aid for small businesses, it’s a life line. If they can get up to $25,000 for mortgage, interest payments or payroll then that may be the reach they need to survive this thing.”

Other small businesses also plan to apply for the grant program. The website includes email signup to receive important notifications and when applications are open.
