Meridian, MS - Governor Tate Reeves was in town today to address the Mississippi Tourism Association’s Conference about their impact on the state.
Governor Reeves is truly excited about the hard work being done to bring tourists to the Magnolia State.
“It’s clear that yall don’t really need help with a sales pitch. That’s because the work that yall have been doing is obvious to all. Approximately one hundred thousand jobs are supported by the tourism industry. That’s almost 1 in 10 jobs in the entire state.”
Reeves says all of the recent growth throughout the state was only achievable with the help of everyone.
“Local Government, state government, and federal government working together, Republicans and Democrats working together here in this community is making a difference for the people that live here, and we’re seeing a revitalization not only in downtown, but in the entire region.”
Reeves was adamant about how important the tourism industry is for the state of Mississippi.
He also shared insight on how the money brought in from tourism is impacting our local
communities.
“The revenue that your industry generates helps fuel the production for better roads, safer communities, and stronger schools. That’s exactly why your industry is a staple of the Mississippi economy.”
Governor Reeves is excited about the current progress in Mississippi, and the Mississippi Tourism Association is a big part in that.
