Greater Meridian Health Clinic kicks off National Health Center Week

National Health Centers week is an annual celebration to raise awareness of the accomplishments of American Health Centers. As part of the celebration, the clinic will be providing health screenings and care packages to those in need.

"Well, this is awesome for us. This is we're celebrating national health center week. This has been celebrated throughout the united states and other territories of the united states. We are just very pleased to celebrate not only our patients but also our efforts to provide services to our patients," stated CEO of GMH, Wilbert Jones.

Jones says they officially began helping out the farmers market this past weekend and says that there will be a different event taking place every day this week.

"We're celebrating our employees. We're providing services for the homeless. We provide for sheltered individuals. We're providing services for the farmers and more," said Jones.

Today they are here at L.O.V.E.S Kitchen providing care packages and health screening to the homeless. Community Developer, Terrell Thompson shares the importance of having a clinic like greater meridian health available to the community.

"It's just very important to have Greater Meridian Health Clinic here in the city because you help provide the health care needs for the city in the community that's around the clinic itself. So we're glad to have this clinic as part of the City of Meridian life," said Thompson.

A staff member from Greater meridian health clinic tells us what services they are providing here at L.O.V.E.S Kitchen and what they are giving out.

"We'll be giving out some food goodies for the homeless, and things like crackers and cookies for them to snack on. And we'll be also doing health screenings, vision screenings, dental screenings, and just trying to provide a lot of good services for the homeless today," said Jatesha Pettus.
