Velma Young Community Center, Meridian Little Theater and Oak Grove Baptist Church will hold a special ward 2 election tomorrow.
Everyone who intends to vote tomorrow will need to wear a mask and of course social distance as much as possible during this time.
“We’ve delivered hand sanitizer stations to each precinct," says Meridian City Clerk Brandye Latimer. "So as you walk into the precinct, there’s a hand sanitizing station. The poll workers will all be wearing masks and we actually provided face shields for them also.”

Since COVID-19 is aimed more toward older residents, they have the opportunity to receive curbside voting if necessary.
“If there’s some reason like a handicap-if they’re not able to come inside, they can ask for curbside voting. One of the poll workers will have to bring the ballot out to them.”
Latimer encourages everyone to come and cast their ballots tomorrow.
“We’ve had about 43 absentee votes. So we’re wondering if people at home will come in and vote tomorrow. Hopefully they will cast their ballot because everyone should have their voice heard to make a decision on our next council member.”
The polls will be open tomorrow from 7AM to 7PM.
