Highway 15 Yard Sale is underway

Union, MS - The 8th semi-annual Highway 15 Yard Sale started earlier this week and the shoppers can’t get enough.

Our day started in Newton, driving on Highway 15 until reaching the American Legion in Decatur.

There were plenty of tents and vendors spread out across the yard with countless items for sale.

Post Commander, Dan Hurst, has plans for any money raised.

“We’re cooking food up here to help support the building. It’s almost a one-hundred-year-old building, it takes a lot of money to keep it up. Yall come on out and get you something to eat. We’re going to start feeding people at 11 and we’re going to cut it off about 2 o’clock.”

Shoppers from all over the region were in the area today looking for something they didn’t know they needed.

A shopper named Barbara said, “I'm looking for oldies. Everything old is new again. Repurposing. Grew up in Quitman Mississippi, I live in Mobile now, Two friends here invited me to come up for so we did, having a ball. I got a special cookbook about Meridian, I love Meridian. I bought some pretty things for my home. So, just about any interest you’ve got, they’ve got the product.”

The next stop was at the Flea Market on Highway 15 in Union, where Twin States News ran into the coordinator of this event, Timmy Bozeman.

“I’m more into antiques. We’ve got antiques, we’ve got general merchandise here. You know, if you’re looking for clothes, or whatever you’re looking for I’m sure you’ll find it in the Highway 15 Yard Sale. It actually goes from Thursday through Sunday. Sunday is clean-up day for most vendors. Saturday a lot of them will have stuff on sale.”

Timmy Bozeman invites anybody and everybody out here to the Flea Market in Union. There is something for people of all ages. They have snow cone vendors, food trucks, jewelry, and beanie babies.
