During this Pandemic Hospitals are on the frontline of this war against COVID but how exactly is it all effecting the staff?

During This pandemic everyone has been suffering from the effects of covid-19. But how are the hospitals and staff members dealing with COVID? From prolong work hours and just being on the frontline during a pandemic? The chief medical officer of Anderson Regional Medical Center gives us details on how things have been for them.

“I'll just say in the beginning; it's been really difficult on our staff having to work really hard. Extra shifts the hospital has made some adjustments in where we placed our nurses reorganizing a couple of our medical surgical floor”

Dr. Everett explains how COVID has rapidly increase in the city of Meridian.

“So a little over a month ago, we only had one or two COVID patients in the hospital. In the past week, we've had roughly about 50 each day to give you an idea of how significant of an increase in sick patients that we've had from COVID in the last month. “

Dr. Everett tells us how the case increase has effected the hospital staff.

“Just the physical work working in all in and out of the PPE every day, and just the emotional drain of seeing all these really sick people and seeing a number of people die from COVID. It's just really been difficult on all of our staff. That's a work in progress. At the moment.”

We have seen it all over that some hospitals are having a vaccination mandate, is that the same for Anderson?

“It's been talked about it's being looked at. There's nothing official yet, but certainly we're looking at all possibilities of what we need to do to protect our patients and our staff.”

With COVID cases on the rise should people with other medical needs beside COVID still go to the hospital?

“I would definitely tell anyone if they have a medical emergency or even just a medical problem, that they still I should come to the hospital to get it seen about, so that's not a problem for them to come.”

Dr. Everett stated that the staff of Anderson Regional Medical Center has been working non stop and will continue to do their part in assisting those who are in need of medical help and those suffering from the covid-19 virus.
