Jasper County, MS - Lawyer cox is a resident of Louin, MS. He recalls the tornado striking his home before being able to fully take shelter. “The most thing I remember was the sound of it, the sound of it, I’ve never heard or never been in a tornado, but the sound was sounding like a train.”

He also recalls the damage left by the storm. “We were in the hallway, before we could just get in the room and lie down with a mattress over our heads, it already was there. It was like it was about to come through the wall. It blew the tin off and blew the wall in.”

While the Tornado has left devasting damage to the town of Louin, it has not stopped community members from lending a helping hand.

Bryson Hayden of Just the Crumbs Ministries, and Captain Keisha McMullin of The Salvation Army are just some of the helper’s providing food and necessities to the Louin Community.

“We go by the slogan feed the hungry, help the hurting.” We’re a food ministry we come in and fix as many meals as we can and give them away to the community and assist anybody else that comes in doing the same.” - Bryson Hayden

“The community is hurting right now, they need to know that they have support, and so it’s very important, this is a time that everyone needs to rally together and come out and just love on our neighbors.”- Captain Keisha McMullin

The town of Louin says even though the residents are shaken up, they are still thanking the community and those reaching out to help in such a terrible time.
