The Junior Auxiliary of Meridian awarded a total of 18 Lauderdale County teachers with mini grants for innovative and creative projects that they will use within the classroom setting. They received a total of 50 applications explaining what the project is, how it will impact students and how it will be incorporated in the classroom.
Each year the organization rewards teachers throughout the county with these grants. This year $12, 925 was awarded.
“Just reading through all the applications and seeing how creative these teachers are and how much effort they put in this-going above and beyond,” said Junior Auxiliary Mini Grants Chairwoman Brandi Pickett. “They’re are not made to do this, they just want to better their students and impact their students in a positive way. When funding is not available, this is one of the only ways they can fund a project in their classrooms.”
The Junior Auxiliary plans to award professional development grants for teachers in the spring.
