L.O.V.E's Kitchen serves hundreds of meals on Christmas Day

In Meridian, L.O.V.E.’s Kitchen continues to serve hot plates to those in need, with a special Christmas day meal, providing hundreds of meals to local residents via grab and go.

L.O.V.E.’s Kitchen prepared enough food to serve 300 people today. The plates were filled with macaroni and cheese, ham, green beans, and a slice of cake for dessert.

Not only treating those in need to a warm meal, Executive Director Fannie Johnson said that for the holiday, they were also gifting backpacks with hygiene products to their homeless clients, sharing in addition that they were thankful L.O.V.E.’s Kitchen has continued to receive donations, as they serve in a grab and go format to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

"We’ve managed to serve safely throughout the pandemic with very limited down time, donations are still coming in. today we had special donations, just for a special christmas meal. so we’re happy. this community always makes sure L.O.V.E.’s Kitchen is able to feed people,” said Fannie Johnson, Executive Director at L.O.V.E.’s Kitchen.

Two clients visiting L.O.V.E.’s Kitchen shared that they were glad L.O.V.E.’s Kitchen has remained open, serving the community during the pandemic .

“Bless Ms. Fannie Johnson, that they’re still able to help the many people, because a lot of folk – people this time, ain’t got nothing to eat and need some help, and somebody to show love to them, --and to me I think they’re doing an excellent job,” said John Cobb.

“Ms. Fannie does a great job down here running L.O.V.E.’s Kitchen, she tries to help a lot of people. it means a lot to a lot of people. it helps a lot of people. you know, without L.O.V.E.’s Kitchen a lot of these people living in the streets will go hungry,” said Curtis Green.

Year round, provides meals to those in need, Monday-Saturday, with lunch at 11:00am.
