John Morgan Mims of the Insurance Center presented a rebate check to the Lauderdale County School District in the amount of $26,390. This comes after the district’s school year was cut short and school buses were not in use due to the pandemic. During that time, the school district discontinued some insurance coverage for those buses.
“We were looking for ways to help the school district and other businesses during this trying time this year and we were able to give out COVID credits since the buses were not used in the past,” said Principal of Insurance Center John Morgan Mims. “So they were able to give credit and help the schools.”
The superintendent says they will use the funds as they see fit to benefit the school district.
“We have other expenses as well. We’ve got the cost of utilities, we’ve got buses, and buildings. So whatever we look at and decide this money could be the best use for it, we’ll apply it there and try to help our students and our teachers,” said Lauderdale County School District Superintendent Dr. John-Mark Cain.
