Lauderdale County School District's Teachers prepare for the school year

Hundreds of teachers from the Lauderdale County School District gathered at the Riley Center for the first time since summer break to prepare for the new school year. Lauderdale County School District’s Superintendent tells us more.

"Today we had our Annual Convocation and it's where we bring all of our staff members back and we try to recharge and mention our mission statement or vision for the year.

We have also had a very special speaker who came in, Mr. Damon West," stated McCain.

Teachers from schools all around the Lauderdale County School District gather each year before the new school year begins and discuss goals and changes for the upcoming year.

McCain said," The main goal of this is so we can all come back together. All start on the right foot and share the mission. Know what the expectations are or celebrate what we had last year, but also come back with a more strengthened vision and a target about what we want this coming school year to be. It's just a great way to kick the year off."

A Northeast Lauderdale High School Teacher shares her views on the Annual teacher meet-up.

"I guess you could call it a teacher pep rally. It's a time for us to get back together and kind of learn what our goals for the year are and to sort of get energized up and later this week, we'll welcome our students into our classroom for the first time," said Candice Maloney.

Lauderdale County School District classes resume August 4th for students with the last name beginning with A-K and last names L-Z resumes August 5th.
