Canvas is a learning management system that allows teachers to virtually send out assignments, tests and quizzes to their students using any technology device.
“It’s where our teachers can post materials, content, assignments that they want their students to do and it’s also a place where students can connect with each other.”
With this new transition of learning, the district has created a virtual classroom training for students and parents.
“So the course itself will actually show students how to interact on canvas, how to submit work, take a practice quiz, how to participate in a practice discussion,” says Instructional Technologist Dr. Marie Roberts. “For our parents, we’ll give them a place to get more familiar with the system so they can support their student.”
By the end of next week, all educators of Lauderdale County Schools will be up to date on all perks the systems has to offer.
“Our educators today were engage, they were excited, they were really involved. They’re ready to excel in building their courses for the upcoming week.”
