Lauderdale County Sheriff Department holds Active Shooter Training.

Meridian MS - The Lauderdale County Sheriff Department, and Chief Ward Calhoun held an active shooter training today.

“It’s an effort to inform citizens about things they can do, and empower themselves with information so they can take care of themselves. As a citizen, you have to empower yourself, and you do that with knowledge.” says Chief Ward Calhoun

Out of all the information given, event attendee Alexis Hendrix shared what stuck out to her. “Most importantly, to know your exits to get out of a situation.”

Although law enforcement should be called in any emergency situation, Chief Ward wants citizens to know what to do as well. “Having the ability to have ideas about what you can do to protect yourself, your family, and others is valuable and may save a life.”
