Lauderdale County Sheriff provides an update on deputy shot in the line of duty.

Meridian, MS - A Lauderdale County Sheriff's Deputy is now home recovering... after being shot in the line of duty.

Sheriff Billy Sollie told Twin States News the deputy made it through a successful surgery before being sent home to rest.

The deputy was shot by a suspect during a murder investigation over the weekend.

25-year-old Terrell Adam Melillo has been charged in the killing of Johnathan Ray.
