Meridian MS - The Lauderdale County Road Department will be helping people get rid of debris left over from the severe weather on March 26. Councilmen Jonathan wells explains what the plan intel’s.
"We’re giving our residents until May 1st to get their debris cut up and out to the road. We encourage people to go to the Lauderdale County Roads and Bridge Facebook page to seek information on how we’ll do that pick up, and for updates on it."
Councilmen wells explains the decision was made after surveying all the damage from the storm. "That it was such damage in a small area that we felt like it was necessary to step out and help the people pick up the debris."
He also shared an important message to those who may be hiring contractors for clean-up. "We're going to try to direct them to churches or some kind of affiliation that will help come and cut up that large debris for those folks and get it out to the road. and we encourage them to find someone like that."
The county says residents in impacted areas have until May 1st to have the debris cut and placed for pick up, and that they will not pick up any debris put out after the May 1st deadline.
