Today, the Lauderdale County School District amended its calendar for the 2020-2021 school year, with students now scheduled to resume a traditional learning schedule in stages.

The amended calendar was passed unanimously by the district’s school board, and now has all students in grades K-4 scheduled to return for in person learning on September 14. Students in grades 5th-8th will join them on September 21, and on September 28 high school students resume on-campus learning. There will also be two learning options, now available to all students, the Enhanced Traditional Scenario, and the CARES Distance Learning Program.
“There’s a wide variety of questions and concerns, we think that this helps to balance those. gives parents the option of a virtual learning for their student. We didn’t think this was a viable option before, in July, but now that our teacher have had more time to learn the canvas platform and all that we’ve thrown at them. We feel that we can provide a quality education, to our students using the virtual option,” said Ken Hardy.
