A Lauderdale county superintendent was awarded a notable award for his accomplishments.

The Lauderdale County School District Superintendent Dr. John-Mark Cain has been named the 2021 Mississippi Association of School’s Superintendents of the Year. Dr. Cain was available today to tell us what this means for him and the Lauderdale County School District.
“You know it is indeed a honor and very humbling to be nominated and to receive this award out of 142 school districts in Mississippi.”
The need for Superintendent leadership was amplified during the Pandemic when challenges were presented, co-workers say Dr. Cain developed a strategic plan and implemented it with fidelity.
“ I think it’s an honor for all of us and the hard work we have put forth and it’s good to recognized for that and to build off of that and continue to improve moving forward.”
His career consists of being a Teacher, Coach, Assistant Principal, Principal, and Assistant Superintendent prior to being selected as Lauderdale County’s first appointed Superintendent of Education.
“To be recognized by your peers and to receive this is truly a blessing and tremendous honor.”
Dr. Cain has made innovative changes and improvements for the lauderdale county school district which contributed to his award.
“I think we have made tremendous stride on our campuses we made a lot of improvements, we improved our energy efficiency, our security mechanisms and also our innovations, look at our solar farm we have going on at northeast middle school.”
Dr. Cain says they will continue to strive to reach each and every student and plans on continuing to make improvements each and every day to reach LCSD excellence.
