The Lauderdale County School District honored their Teacher of the Year and Administrator of the Year Tuesday with gift baskets.
Jennifer Moore was awarded Lauderdale County School District Teacher of the Year for the 2020-2021 school year. Moore is a self-contained special education teacher at Northeast Lauderdale High School. She has been teaching 9th through 12th grade students for 15 years.

Moore says teachers perform a lot of tasks that are not even given a second thought and she is grateful for the recognition.
“Knowing that someone saw me and appreciated me is and thought enough to nominate me and then to be chosen--it’s just a blessing," said Moore. "It just reminds me of what the Bible says about never getting tired of well-doing and to do your best even when no one is looking because your heavenly Father is always looking.”
Shane Rodgers was awarded the Lauderdale County School District Administrator of the Year for the 2020-2021 school year. Rodgers has been in the field of education for 17 years and has been the Principal of West Lauderdale High School for 5 years.

Rodgers recognizes his teachers for his accomplishment as well.
“I am very honored and I am very humbled by this. I appreciate it and it means a lot. There’s a lot that goes into the job that our teachers do here and to have a great staff that we have here and to be honored for this is great, but it really goes to those guys because they are on the frontlines," said Rodgers.
Moore and Rodgers will represent the Lauderdale County School District in the state competition.
