Meridian, MS - The Lauderdale County School District has issued a statement regarding Parents concerns on student safety school attendance during the upcoming Special School Bond Referendum election next week.
According to the Superintendent of Education, Dr. John Mark Cain, the school district “will provide an additional parent note for an excused absence for October 3rd, 2023, at all campuses.”
Dr. Cain also stated, “parents hold the ultimate authority in deciding whether their child/children attend school, and the district respects that “some parents may choose to keep their children home on the 3rd.”
Students will still be able to attend school on October 3rd, but they will be excused if they do not attend.
A Note of Absence from a parent is still required per the usual process during the excused absence period.
