A local church will be feeding the youth over spring break. Twin States News spoke with the pastor of First Apostolic Church about what gave her the idea.

For the next two days, pastor Pearl Huggins will be feeding children 18 and younger. She hopes to feed a hundred children per day.
“Well, the Lord gave me that number about a month ago that I wanted to reach a hundred young people this year”, said Pastor Huggins. “I’d really like to do it each day. I have enough food each day to feed over a hundred children and that’s what I would like.”

Since schools are out for spring break this week, Pastor Huggins wanted to make sure that children would still receive a full lunch.
“Usually, we go out of town and travel for spring break, but the Lord laid on our heart here as a ministry to serve our children out of school. So, during the time they are out of school, we wanted to make sure they had a complete lunch just as usual.”

Pearl Huggins has always had a connection with the youth, the food giveaway is another avenue for her to reach them.
“That was always my ministry when I was a youth pastor in California for 300 to 400 hundred young people. Even coming here, we have always had an influx of young people in our ministry. I teach school, I am an educator. I deal with children every day. I just wanted to serve them during spring break. I want the parents to know we are here. All you have to do is come over, no questions asked.”
The food give away will continue Wednesday and Thursday starting at 11:00 a.m. on both days
