MERIDIAN, Miss. - West Mount Moriah Missionary Baptist Church in Meridian will host a COVID-19 Victims and Survivors Memorial this Sunday. This is a community wide event where residents will be honoring those lost to COVID-19 and those who have survived the virus. The event will begin at 5 p.m. at the Sammie Davidson Complex located at 1617 College Drive in Meridian.
“We are a larger community and there are more people coming out of this than you all,” said Pastor Odell Hopkins. “There are more people who need reassurance that God still has his hands on you and that we’ll survive this and we’re surviving this. So I thought to bring it to a larger arena.”
The church recently held a similar event and wanted to make a bigger invite.
"We will have a list of names that we will call for those that succumbed to COVID--those names will be read and at the end of the service we will have wreath-laying ceremony here on first base of the Sammie Davidson Complex and a moment of silence."
The event will be enforced with social distancing measures and masks are required.
