Local non-profit to distribute COVID-19 care packages in Sumter County

The Non-Profit Organization, Cook Unity In The Community, will be holding a drive-through distribution of the COVID-19 care packages in the town of York on Saturday, October 24. The distribution will be from 12pm-4pm in the parking lot of Sumter Central High School. Those who qualify to receive a COVID-19 care package are individuals with pre-existing health conditions, disabled, or seniors ages 60 and up. The care packages will include PPE, like 5 disposable masks, a reusable cloth mask, hand sanitizer, and a flyer with the CDC’S recommended guidance regarding COVID-19.

“This is a small gesture, that would certainly help to go off with limited potential for more spread of this virus and that was one of the other driving factors for us to try and this off and get it done in Sumter County,” said Darren Cook, Director of Cook Unity In The Community.
