LONG-TIME MERIDIAN DJ- THE KENMAN SIGNED OFF THE AIR FOR THE LAST TIME TODAY. TWIN STATES NEWS DANNY TODD SPOKE WITH HIS CO-HOST CARA SHIRLEY ABOUT HER EMOTIONAL REASON TO ALSO LEAVE THE RADIO STATION

If you've ever turned on your radio in East Mississippi or West Alabama, either while driving or at home, chances are you've heard the voices of Cara and the Kenman They bring laughter and wholesomeness to everyone who hears their voices. Today is a sad realization that all good things must come to an end.

Kenman has always supported me (Danny Todd) and has always been a loving spirit, and smiling face that would uplift anyone. It's my honor to be able to do this story. I wish him well in retirement and want him to know that we love him and that he is in our prayers.

Cara Shirley- 97 okk radio personality says "On August 2nd, Ken was diagnosed with stage four metastatic prostate cancer and was unfortunately given a diagnosis of six months or less. He was unable to work at that point and through a lot of different things happening to him. It ended up where the community came together and built a tiny home out on my property for him."

Cara Shirley says the mini Rosa home where the Kenman now lives is a place where she and her family can come and surround Kenman with lots of love. She says the decision for her to sign off with Kenman was something she felt called to do.

Cara Shirley says "To be able to enjoy time with him and you never know about next year we'll just see what happens. And you never know where the future is going to take us. But I know for right now to just be with my Ken."

Cara has many fond memories attached to her time as a co-host of the morning show With The KenMan. She wants to tell the listeners what it's meant for this community to accept her into their homes and vehicles.

Cara says "How crazy it is! The experience of going from never doing this to doing this full time and to having the support of people and just the craziest thing is walking into a dollar general and someone going, are you Cara of 97okk ."

This day is an emotional day that the listeners of 97 okay will not soon forget. People in the community tell Twin States News the impact that these two radio personalities have made will never be replicated. These two friends have been together hosting the morning show for three years..... and that's ALL IN A ROW!

Cara and Kenman sign off for the last time:

Cara Shirley says "But, this will be our last break. Signing off together on air. And I just want to say I love you, buddy.

Kenman responded emotionally "I love you, too. And Scott I love you and Carla And thank you for the nice words. They mean a lot to me. They really do."

You both will be missed.

Danny Todd -Twin States News. Meridian.
