Local residents bid farewell to Southeast head football coach on Meridian city hall lawn

Many local residents gathered on Meridian’s city hall lawn to pay their respects to the family of Southeast High School’s head football coach, and teacher at Southeast Middle School, Coach Calvin Hampton.

Hampton’s public viewing was held on city hall lawn from 10am-11:30am. Hampton was killed in a car accident last week on October 21. A well-respected member of the Meridian and Lauderdale County Community, Hampton became a member of the Southeast staff in 2019, and prior to, was head football coach at Meridian High School for 3 seasons. His funeral was held at noon following the public viewing.
