Today in Meridian, the city has announced who will assume the role as acting chief of the Meridian Police Department, following the recent resignation of Interim Chief Charles Coleman.

Lieutenant Patrick Gale has accepted the responsibility as acting chief of police, and will remain in the role for no more than 90 days, or until a permanent chief has been confirmed. Lieutenant Gale has been with the Meridian Police Department for more than 13 years and was awarded officer of the year in 2010 and 2013.
“Since the retirement of Chief Dubose in February, there have been 2 interim police chiefs. Now we understand the importance of stability in the department and to the citizens of the city. To that end, we are going to continue the search for permanent chief and I am actively seeking out qualified candidates to interview for this most important position,” said Eddie Kelly, CAO of Meridian.

Lieutenant Patrick Gale will assume the role as acting chief of the Meridian Police Department on Monday, August 3.
