In Lauderdale County, the Marion Police Department has wrapped up its distribution of school supplies from the department’s annual school supplies drive.
The official school supplies drive took place on August 1, but there were many unclaimed school supplies left over from the event. The Marion Police Department decided to distribute the remaining school supplies to schools in Kemper County, Choctaw County, Pearl River, and the Philippines.

“It was just a blessing just to be able to do that, and we tried to distribute just a certain amount, like each location we know got at least probably forty-eight bookbags, and a lot of paper and notebooks, that we had left, but everybody got backpacks and notebooks and paper for sure”, said Randall Davis, Chief of Marion Police Department.
The Marion Police Department is beginning to accept donations for the department’s annual toy drive in December.
