Marion Police Department Holds Its Annual School Supplies Drive

This past weekend, the Marion Police Department held its annual school supplies drive, implementing new changes to mitigate the spread of COVID-19 at the event.

The school supplies drive was held on Saturday, August 1 at the Hamasa Temple Shrine. The Marion Police Department had 1,500 book bags to distribute, along with pencils, markers, and notebooks. Everyone in attendance was required to wear a mask, have their temperature taken before entering the building, and social distance.

“Our main objective was to get this done for the kids, and as you can see, the community came together once again, to make this happen, and that’s what I’m glad of, its just seeing people work together and making things happen,” said Randall Davis, Marion Police Chief.

The Marion Police Department will distribute the school supplies left over from the school supplies drive to other communities in surrounding counties.
