The Mayor’s Health and Wellness Council hosted its first-ever Health Fair for the community. Different organizations came out to show their support by giving back to the community from health advice to financial advice.

“The main goal of today's is to spread more awareness and give more information about overall health and wellness and make the community, as I said, make it a top priority. We really need that here in the city and the state as well. So, we're trying to push that so that those people will start putting their health first before coming back,” stated Arthur Harris a member of the Mayor’s Health and Wellness Council.
I went around to a few organizations to see what made them want to take part in the Health Fair and how they are helping the community.
“Being a community event where you can provide people with education and knowledge about their health is so empowering. And once they begin to understand the different things that affect their health, they're able to make more informed decisions. So, we are here as nurse practitioner associates of meridian just to do our part in educating the community, “stated Mary Stewart.
Health advice isn’t the only information that was provided to the community.
“I love to give back to the community. I think this is a great event. I think knowledge is power. And I believe that everybody deserves equal opportunities to develop their wealth and provide credit and just know about the products and services that we offer at citizens national bank,” said Melissa McGlawn.

This may be the first community health fair event hosted by the mayor’s health and wellness council but according to Harris, it will not be the last.
“So we're looking to do all types of events, races, events, just to help the community. As I said, make that awareness for health and help the community to make their health and wellness a top priority or anything like that,” said Harris.
