MBCI held a groundbreaking ceremony for Choctaw Food Distributione expansion

In Neshoba County, the Mississippi Band of Choctaw Indians held a groundbreaking ceremony for the new warehouse at the Choctaw Food Distribution building on Tuesday, October 27.

This expansion will add 5,200 square feet to the current facility located in the Pearl River community in Neshoba County. The Choctaw Food Distribution services around 390 families throughout all eight tribal communities, and the program applied for the USDA Food Distribution Program on Indian Reservation Cares Act Facility: Improvement and Equipment funding in June of this year, and received an award of $1,280,785, that will be used to expand the current warehouse , expand the current shopping area, and purchase new equipment for the facility. The project is estimated to be completed in six months.
