MERIDIAN, Miss. - Meridian Community College hosted a dedication and ribbon cutting today for the Mark Chandler Center for Culinary Arts. Officials honored the late Mark Chandler who directed the program for several years. His family was also honored with plaques in remembrance of his legacy.
“What a great tribute to him to be able to say this new facility that carries with it--all the dreams you had for this program gets to be in name of his honor," said President Dr. Thomas Huebner.
The college has owned the building for quite some time and decided to do new renovations and triple the size for the Culinary Arts Program with the help of LPK Architects.
"We have an outstanding culinary arts program," explained Huebner. "An Howard Hill is our chef who teaches and just has all kinds of energy and does a great job inspiring students to do excellent work.”
Officials from several areas and current and former students helped the college cut the ribbon. Dr. Huebner says the renovations began last July.
