Today Meridian Community College hosted its Annual Humanities Teacher of the Year Presentation. The Dean for University Transfer Education tells us the significance of the award.
“We're here today to recognize Lacy Johnson as MCC’s Humanities Teacher of the Year. This is an award sponsored by the Mississippi Humanities Council. Part of the award is that she does a presentation,” stated Dr.Chad Graham.
Graham Says that the presentations that the teachers get to present are an opportunity for them to see the quality and passion of the Instructors.
“I really appreciate the opportunity to recognize our faculty and to see what students get to see on a daily basis the quality of instructors that we have in the classroom,” said Graham.
The Humanities Teacher of the Year tells us what it means to her to receive this award.
“Getting the Humanities Instructor of the Year or Teacher of the Year has been so wonderful, such an honor, something that I have always admired, and other people who received this award, “said Lacy Johnson.
Receiving the Humanities Teacher of the year Award was very special and emotional stated Johnson.
“When I received it, I literally cried. And it's just a wonderful thing to know that I am a part of the humanities, which I have been all my life, and that I can express through the humanities a lot of stories and other things to my things they learn from the humanities. It's just a part of all of our lives. So being a part of this program and getting this award was something that's very good for us.”
