Around 10:30 this morning Twin States News was notified of a MDOT worker who had been struck by a car while working near Windsor Road and highway 493.
MDOT spokesman Michael Flood tells us that it was a maintenance technician that was hit during a shoulder grading operation in the area.
"There was a spotter that was looking out for vehicles who yelled and let our guy know that that car was not stopping. He was able to exit the roadway. The worker was struck on the passenger side of the vehicle."
MDOT says the worker is conscious and has since been released from the hospital.
The driver was issued a citation by Mississippi Highway Patrol.
