Meridian businesses see uptick in holiday shoppers

Businesses in Meridian are stocking up shelves and filling up racks for the holiday rush of shoppers. Robbie Hales of the Liberty Shop says business is booming during the holiday and people are following safety guidelines.

“The Christmas season has brought people out,” said Hales. “Everyone is being very careful, of course. We’re social distancing and wearing our masks.”

From sweaters, jackets, jeans and jewelry--Hales says customers can access it all through their website or curbside pickup.

“I have somebody probably everyday asking me to meet them out front with whatever it is they want and I’ll just get their credit card, run in and take care of it or they’ll give it to me when they call and it’s very quick and convenient,” said Hales.

With limited places to shop in Meridian, Belle G has apparel for all shapes and sizes for women. Hallie Phillips says the store covers 7,000 square feet and is website accessible.

“We can fit anywhere from a 12-year-old girl to a mature lady. We have everything missy department and junior department,” said Phillips. “We have shoes, bags and luggage. We have a little bit of everything. I always call us a mini department store.”

The City of Meridian encourages people to shop local when writing out their Christmas list this year.
