Meridian, Miss. - The Salvation Army is celebrating its National Salvation Army week. The initiative was declared by former President Dwight Eisenhower as a way for the community to show appreciation of the organization and its many good deeds in support of the community. the event will be held for the rest of the week and the community is urged to help its fellow neighbor by donating to your local salvation army to those burdened by poverty or natural disasters. Lieutenant Tamara Robb says this event puts a spotlight on the organization's good deeds that support the community.
"It's National Salvation Army week so we will have the canteens out this week. We're doing a sale half-price sale at our family store. It's to kick-off the week where we just kind of recognize the Salvation Army and what we been doing all year long and just saying thank you to all those who have made donations and have supported the Salvation Army."
