Meridian, MS - After the American Red Cross declared a national blood shortage, Meridian Community College took action by hosting a blood drive.
“There is a national blood shortage that is going on in our country right now. We’re hoping we can actually serve by doing this once every semester to try to be able to help with that issue.” says Kelli Wallace.
Kelli Wallace is the director of housing and student activities. She's passionate about helping those in need. “The blood drive here will serve the two local hospitals that we have in Meridian Mississippi. We’ll be able to give them blood for up to a week here.”
Student Calvin Jackson feels it was his duty to help out. “You never know there might be somebody in need of help, of blood, and if I got something to give, I’ll give.”
A lot of people showed up today to donate blood because of the national blood shortage.
