MERIDIAN COMMUNITY COLLEGE IS DOING ITS PART TO MAKE SURE EVERY VETERAN IS APPRECIATED.

A college here in Meridian made a point today to show veterans just how important they are.
Meridian Community College hosted its veteran's program today. They tell Twin States news that it's important to them that they highlight every veteran and let them know that they're appreciated.
Dr. Tom Huebner- MCC president says " We want them to know how valuable they are to us and how grateful we are for their service. It's just a special day that we can invite veterans, recognize veterans have a veteran speak, and just use it as an opportunity to be thankful."
Dr. Tom Huebner tells Twin States News that these heroes sign up for duty with an understanding of all risks involved. He's very proud to help shine a light on them, not only as the president of MCC but as a thankful citizen as well.
Ashley Tanksley-Director of admissions says "It's important for Meridian Community College to show our appreciation for our veterans that have not only served our country but their families and communities. Just to take a few seconds to say thank you. And so we love hosting this event here."
Students are also excited to be a part of a worthy cause.
Emma Watson- a student at MCC says "I think it's really awesome because my dad is actually a veteran, so I have something personal to this. My family is going back into the military before my grandfather, my great-grandfather, and my dad. So being able to say that he actually cares about those things, whether they're passed or still with us, those veterans mean a lot to our country. It means a lot to our community."
One of the servicemembers whoo weres a part of today's program talked about his commitment and why he's proud to serve his country.
AV2-Peyton Surtrulo- a local servicemember says "I'm able to provide for my family. Of course, I'm able to further the interests of keeping people safe, doing what I got to do for our country. And overall, it just gives me peace of mind knowing that I'm actually doing something for other people.
