Meridian Fire Department Receives A Donation From VFW Post 12124

Today, local members of the VFW post 12124 presented the Meridian Fire Department with all-weather American flags and solar lights.

The presentation of the new flags and lights will allow all of the fire stations with the Meridian Fire Department to fly the American flag 24/7. The new solar lights will shine on the flag during evening hours, and the new flags will be flown during rain or shine.

“You can’t say enough about our veterans, you know. I mean, they stuck their lives on the line for us, many years ago, and I think its up to us to hold that tradition and that respect for our veterans, and let’s honor the flag,” said Ricky Leister, Meridian Fire Chief.

The Meridian Fire Department will begin distributing the new flags and lights to each fire station tomorrow, and plans to have them soaring in the sky within the next 2 weeks.
