The Meridian High School football team will play their first game against Petal High School tomorrow coming off their 2-week quarantine. The football season was put on suspension recently due to COVID-19 safety concerns. Tomorrow also marks homecoming, the annual pinkout game and senior night for the Wildcats.
“Coming off a win against Pearl and having to sit down for 2 weeks and not being to practice and being able to sit down as a team, it was difficult," said Meridian Head Coach John Douglass. "We took that time to go ahead and start preparing for tomorrow night’s game. We feel comfortable that Petal is doing everything they can to be sure their kids are COVID free.”
The annual parade, pep rally and tailgating for homecoming has been cancelled due to COVID-19 concerns.
