The Meridian Freedom Project, MPF, celebrated giving back to the community today as they mark the end of their Garden Learning Service Project.

Today the Meridian Freedom Project is celebrating its Garden Learning Services at the Frank Berry Courts. The freedom project was awarded a grant that allowed for them to partner together and plant community gardens to teach children hard work, how to eat healthier, and where the food comes from.
Executive Director of MPF, Adrian Cross says, “The Meridian Freedom Project is a non-profit organization that works with 6th -9th-grade young leaders and our mission is to create academically capable, socially conscious, and mentally disciplined leaders.”
“We were able to receive a 22,000 dollar grant from the National Geographic Society to supply community gardens around Meridian and Lauderdale County. We found it to be a blessing to the community because they are the ones reaping the benefits and eating the vegetables and they get to learn more about nutrition."

Interns of MPF and participates were able to plant and build the gardens themselves.
“Not only did I help with my team and with the Meridian Freedom Project to build the gardens
. We also got to use the tools and drills to build beds and what this means to me and the community is that this is sustainable and lasting impacting.”
“We’re here to celebrate the work of our freedom fellows, the work of MFP but also to celebrate the community”, said intern Derrick Dupuy.
The Meridian Freedom Project is recruiting leaders right now. To find out more you can visit http://themeridianfreedomproject.org/.
