Students with the Meridian Public-School District have officially been attending classes virtually for more than a week.

The Meridian Public-School District began the 2020 to 2021 school year on August 10, with students resuming classes via distance learning, as a part of the district’s plan to conduct school virtually until September 8.
MHS senior, Arianna Patton, shared that she never expected her senior year to begin this way.
“You know, a couple of us had heard about the virus, but we didn’t think it was serious, so once we got out of school we was thinking ‘oh, we want to go back’, then it was one week ,they was like school cancelled for this week, then the next week, then a whole month, then after that they cancelled the whole thing. So, we was like wow this –this virus is really serious,” said Arianna Patton, senior at Meridian High School.
Saying, that distance learning has been a unique experience, so far.
“It’s been okay as far as learning, I think I can work with it, but sometimes like, you have technical difficulties with the internet, so that kind of makes it difficult to learn,” said Patton.
The senior also shared her concerns about having to learn virtually, worried about her education.
“I’m worried about not –you know, not having the right education, like this online learning is kind of difficult, like it’s not like in the classroom. Like, I think I learn better in the classroom, like face to face,” said Patton.

The Meridian Public-School District’s website has information and resources regarding online learning to provide guidance for a successful distance learning experience for grades K- 12.
