MERIDIAN, Miss. - The City of Meridian announces that the 2021 Juneteenth Festival scheduled for Saturday, June 19 has been rescheduled due to the pending weather forecasted for the weekend. The new date for the event is set for Sunday, June 27th at City Hall Lawn from 5 p.m. until midnight.

According to Public Safety Director, Doug Stephens, “We should see a tropical system track through our area Saturday and into Sunday with a possibility of four to eight inches of rain with some possible flash flooding. Winds are expected to be 15-30 miles per hour. Depending on the track of the system, some tornadoes could be possible.”

“We are excited to celebrate Juneteenth on June 27th and recognize the importance of this historic date,” says Mayor Percy Bland.

City employees will observe the new Juneteenth federal holiday on Monday, June 28th and all City office will be closed on that day.
