Meridian, MS - The local voter turnout was great as people were in and out of these doors all day at the Meridian Little Theater.

Election Manager, Margaret Remy, expresses how quickly the day was going by and how happy she is about how many people showed up to vote today.

“Oh, I think it’s been great. We all think we ought to be saying good afternoon already, and we’ve had a very good turnout, and I am so proud of people. We had a beautiful day to do it.”

Mrs. Remy also said the Governor's race being so close might be the main reason so many people came out to vote.

Local voter, Jerry Burrage, tells Twin States News the main reason he showed up to the polls this morning.

“I’m very excited about the Governor’s race. So I want to support the Democrat for Governor this time. I think it is time that we have a change in Mississippi. We’ve had a Republican for a while and, you know, that’s great, but now I believe it’s time for a change.”

Joanne Goforth, who voted for Governor Tate Reeves, expresses her reasons why.

“I think he is the man for the job. I think he is the best person for our state, to represent our state.”
