“Good evening. We'd like to talk about and let the public know that we have made some arrests in two homicides. First, the murder of Tailman Edwards and Elbert Carpenter JR. that occurred on May 29, 2019. Mr. Edwards and Mr. Carpenter were shot and killed in the area of 22nd Street and Royal Rd. Two arrests were made, and after receiving information from the public and video evidence, it was determined that the two original suspects did not act alone. After further investigation, it was determined that Myson Moseley, Tavion Radcliff, and Jyquan Radcliff were arrested for their part in the murder and robbery of Tailman Edwards and Albert Carpenter Jr. They were each charged with two counts of capital murder and not eligible for the bond at this time.

Along with the arrest made in the May 2019 murder, a criminal investigation also made an arrest in the murder of Diqwun Martin who was reported missing in August of 2020. His body was found a week later.

“We have also made arrests in the Diqwun Martin case. On August 27, 2020, Diqwun Martin was reported missing, on September 3, 2020, Mr. Martin's body was located. Evidence and investigation proved that Onorious Campbell and Myson Mosley played a part in the murder of Diqwun Martin. Myson Mosely and Ornorious Campbell are charged with first-degree murder and are not eligible for the bond at this time. This investigation is ongoing, pending further arrests. We would like to thank the public for your assistance in this arrest”, said Chief Young.

Along with the announcements of the arrest, the department made it clear that they will not be tolerating any gun or gang-related activities.

“We would also like to let the public know that those individuals that are acting as a nuisance within this community, will not be tolerated”, said Young. We will be seeking the maximum penalty for any and all criminal activity, such as gun violence and gang activity here in Meridian.”

Detective Ricky Robinson says the department has been working hard to solve murders old and recent, he stated that if an individual commits a murder in Meridian, that individual will be caught.

“I have family that comes here and shops. I have family that comes here and visits, I got family that lives here. When I say I and the other individuals that work at this police department are tired of it. If it doesn't stop, it's just going to have to be stiffer consequences”, stated Robinson. “There are going to be things that are going to have to be done such as extra patrol, other units coming out, and us all working together as a police department to make this city completely safe. We're slowly but surely catching them. It takes time. It doesn't happen overnight. But it's happening.”

The department says the work they have been doing is paying off in the cases they are solving, and they expect to make several more arrests.
