To combat the hiring demand, the Meridian Police Department, MPD, has now introduced a new job position. Lieutenant Rita Jack is now the new recruitment coordinator for MPD.

The new position of recruitment coordinator will be led by Lt. Rita Jack, an officer of the Meridian police force for more than twenty years. She says the department is looking for certified officers as well as new hires.
“The administration is looking to meet the competitive demands of our profession of bringing new law enforcement on board. We are currently working on a recruitment plan we hope will meet the demands of our hiring shortage”, stated Lt.Jack.
The recruitment department seeks candidates for all divisions under the Meridian Police Department. MPD is hoping to get results immediately.
“This is an effort that we are seeking to get results on as soon as possible so our timeline was yesterday. We will continue to bring about recruitment in all of our capacities, in the investigation department, in our patrol division.”
The duties of the job will be to create new and innovative ways to bring in new officers to the force. Lt.Jack says this new department will aid in the increase of police presence on the street.
“We want the public to know that officer presence is a large part of reducing crime. Just our presence. So, the more presence we have in the community the more likely we are able to reduce crime”
If you know anyone that is interested in becoming a part of the Meridian Police Department you can contact MPD at 601-485-1893.
